Naval Pilot Training at NAS Corpus Christ

So you're considering the T-44/TC-12 Track at Corpus Christi?  Maybe you've already chosen it?

The most important thing to realize is, when you select the T-44/TC-12 track you are actually selecting to fly the C-130 aircraft.  You no longer have to worry about which airframe you will get in your drop.  You are guaranteed that whatever assignment you receive after Corpus Christi you will be flying the incredible C-130 Hercules aircraft.

My Credentials

After 5 years on active duty in the back of an AWACS, and 9 years in the Air National Guard as a C-130E Flight Engineer, I was finally commissioned in the ANG and sent to UPT.  I attended T-37 training at Columbus AFB, MS in class 01-14.  I came to Corpus Christi and trained with VT-35 in the TC-12 aircraft before continuing to Little Rock AFB for C-130 training.

You're coming from T-37's, you want to know what the differences in training are.

I'll try to compare the similarities and differences between the T-37 and T-44/TC-12 syllabus.  Here are some basics:

The primary difference in the two training styles is the expectations for the students.  You started out tweets with a no-threat dollar ride, and you began every phase with low expectations and many demonstrations.  In the Navy you will be expected to know the procedures for each ride (even the first one) when you show up for the briefing.

On the other hand, the expectations of each ride will be provided to you ahead of time within a clearly defined guide.  When the syllabus clearly states that you will be discussing the electrical system, you had better know everything about the electrical system, to include related emergency procedures.  This gives you the opportunity to study one system in depth, rather than being expected to "know the entire book" everyday.
